‘It was digging through the crates of vinyl in record stores that I discovered the music that raised me. Influenced by the A-Side & B-Side classics, those records opened up a whole new world of music. I can’t put into words just how special it is to finally have my own music on wax’

Ledbyher releases her long-awaited new mixtape 'The Elephant'. The Scottish-Indonesian rapper, producer, singer-songwriter, poet, and video director is a prominent female voice cutting through a male-dominated scene - and entirely self-taught.

'The Elephant' named after the area of London that she has anchored herself to, as well as an animal to which she has always been drawn, the tape is the culmination of the work that has made her so magnetic.  Songs about heartbreak, longing, and survival, written with a poet’s love of words are underscored by propulsive beats that stop them from being too devastating. “The theme is catastrophe,” she points out. “It’s me at the bitter end of a situation and writing about it.”

Ledbyher's music is an atlas of Nu-wave jerk, alt-R&B and self-coined “lady trap”, but the scope of 'The Elephant' demonstrates just how fresh and shapeshifting she is as a producer and songwriter. It captures a simmering rage unique to the female experience, and the teeth-gritted instinct for survival which drove her to fight for her seat at the table.
